rhinoplasty

Isolated plastic surgery of the wings and nose tip is rarely performed.Typically, it is included within the complex scope of rhinoplasty surgery.But in some cases, a modified wing is missing that instantly makes the overall look better.

Beautiful nose parameters

The alars are pairs of symmetrically arranged cartilages that form the nostrils.

The main parameters of a harmoniously formed nose can be called symmetry and proportionality.When it comes to the beauty of the olfactory apparatus, what most often comes to mind is a flat back, a neat tip, and moderate nose projection (length).The nose is less noticeable due to its smaller area.

The aesthetic configuration of the wings is very important!I can assume that non-experts in the field of facial aesthetics are not always able to identify the "ugly" aspects of a nose.At first glance, everything looks fine, but some elements stand out from the carefully tailored design.The ugly wing is a touch that can destroy the whole harmony of nature's conception.

They must be symmetrical and proportional to the entire outside of the respiratory organ!

Nose after nasal surgery

When is surgery needed?

Nose correction can be a separate surgery, i.e. performed only on the paired cartilages, or it can be part of a complex nose and septum correction (septoplasty).

Let’s highlight the 3 most common wing defects that can be corrected with surgery:

  1. Nostrils and wings too wide.
  2. Asymmetric wings.We are all born with asymmetries.This is good.But in some cases, dissonance cannot be hidden.Therefore, noses that differ significantly in size or position (higher or lower) can be entrusted to a plastic surgeon.
  3. The nostrils are thick and thick.The cause may be thickening of the skin or excess cartilage tissue.
  4. Unsightly shape.

The nasal defects listed cannot be corrected with filler injections!

How complex is this operation?

If we compare the correction of wings with plastic surgery of various parts of the external nose, of course, the first case is easier for the surgeon to perform.

"Easy" doesn't mean it can be done without much effort or experience.On the contrary, reducing the nose and forming a new structure requires careful handling and planning of its actions by experts.

I'll say it again: the wing is a small area, and machining it requires precise precision.

What anesthesia is used?

The topic of anesthesia in plastic surgery is a topic of great concern to patients.I would divide the audience into two camps: those who are opposed to general anesthesia and seek to avoid it in any way, and those who strive to survive the intervention in a state of amnesia and are happy to enter medicated sleep.

Notice!

  • If we perform the procedure in conjunction with a complex rhinoplasty, then general anesthesia is required;
  • If we are correcting only the cartilage, then we can use intravenous sedation under local anesthesia.

Preparing for surgery

The amount of preoperative preparation depends on the type of surgery.Extensive research is needed on rhinoplasty under general anesthesia.

Tests required

  • clinical blood tests;
  • Blood biochemical tests (total protein, urea, creatinine, bilirubin (total), ALT, AST, glucose, potassium, sodium);
  • Coagulation chart (INR, prothrombin, bleeding time, clotting time);
  • Blood tests for RW (syphilis), HIV;
  • hemoglobin;
  • Antigen + anti-HCV (hepatitis B, hepatitis C);
  • Blood type, Rh factor;
  • General urine test;
  • ECG (electrocardiogram) and interpretation;
  • Computed tomography scan of the nose.

For isolated nostril surgery, you will need slightly fewer tests.

The day of surgery

The patient comes to the clinic on an empty stomach (in case of complex rhinoplasty) or tomorrow for minor surgery (rhinoplasty under intravenous sedation).

After standard organizational measures such as signing of the contract, payment, etc., next comes the consultation with the experts.The anesthetist's past history must be collected and of course another meeting with the operating surgeon must be conducted.

After complex corrective nose surgery under general anesthesia, the patient was placed in the recovery room, where his condition was carefully monitored.

After the wings were sutured, the patient went home within a few hours.

How is recovery going?

Recovery after septoplasty and nostril surgery is significantly different.

If only the wings are corrected, you're one of the lucky ones and don't need any complicated structures on your face (such as a splint).The doctor seals the corrected area with special strips.This has virtually no impact on your quality of life and well-being.

Once you return home, you can resume your normal lifestyle with minimal adjustments.

Sutures after wing surgery

When narrowing the nostril, the seam is on the outside.After 6-7 days, the doctor will remove the thread.Over a period of time, the traces of the intervention will be apparent.But with proper care, you'll forget about them in a few months.

Rules for treating scars:

  • After the stitches are removed, a bandage/patch can be placed over the wound if necessary, which can be removed after a day and then there is usually no need to cover the wound with a bandage or plaster.
  • On the day the stitches are removed, do not get the wound wet to ensure all holes are closed.
  • A healing wound will remain sensitive for several weeks - protect the wound area from external damage and avoid rubbing with tight clothing.If needed, you can cover the wound with a bandage/plaster.

Rhinoplasty, price

The cost of rhinoplasty surgery depends on the nature of the aesthetic defect that needs to be corrected, the complexity and number of surgeries to be performed.For your reference, we have included in the table the estimated costs for different types of surgical intervention.Only after face-to-face consultation will you know the final service fee.
